Food Stamp Challenge: Day 18
Saturday was a crazy busy day (just how I like it!) but the weather was beautiful and I loved it! I woke up at the church where I was volunteering and got dressed. I headed over to the new Habitat for Humanity house. I had a banana on the way ($0.13). I worked on regrading the backyard of a house that had already been finished for a year but was pooling water. The homeowner gave us a breakfast taco (free) and a Pepsi (free) while we worked. Lunch was provided by the organization sponsoring the house - pizza (free). I left after lunch and went to check out Kevin's new house that he is fixing up to rent out. We painted a little and then went to grab something to eat. I had a sandwich ($4.49) and chips ($0.88). Then I went home and showered and took a nice nap until it was time to go again. I run for the Texas Beef Council and since I had a race on Sunday they bought dinner for us at Macaroni Grill. We had appetizers, steak skewers, pasta, and 3 types of cake (ALL FREE!). (You'll notice I did really horrible with eating gluten-free this weekend. It was more convenient to take what was free and easier to access in a hurry. My stomach, tounge, and a little bit skin paid for it!) Then I hung out with some friends. I headed to bed VERY late but it was a wonderful day! Saturday's Total: $5.50 Total spent in 18 days: $84.97 (An average of $4.72 a day) Total remaining: $122.03
